It’s only been 24 hours since the passing Christina Grimmie was shot dead and the pressure all seemed too much for her close friend Selena Gomez. The Same Old Love singer was performing on stage when she broke down giving a tribute to her friend right before she dedicated a song to her memory. She said ”When she was 14, we met her and my parents and I signed her.’ She went on to say ”One thing about Christina and her family is that she holds her faith so closely to her. And I think it’s not about a religion and it’s not about anything or good deeds.’
Selena took to the piano to play the song which she dedicated to Christina was shot dead on Friday while she was signing autographs for fans at the stage door. There were substantial security concerns over Gomez’s concert but the show went ahead as planned. However, a meet and greet with fans which was planned for after the show was cancelled due to security concerns. Selena’s stepfather was also Christian’s manager, making the loss even more difficult. In the wake of her death, the Gomez family set up a Just Giving page in her memory which has already raised over $77,000.
