Bill Paxton dies aged 61

Bill Paxton, who was known for his roles Aliens and Titanic, has died at the age of 61 after suffering from a stroke. TMZ reported that the actor experienced complications when recovering from surgery. The actor starred in a number of films and was an avid sci-fi fan and starred in many movies in the genre including Apollo 13 and The Edge of Tomorrow.

Many celebrities have expressed their sadness at the passing of the actor – many of whom will be preparing for the Oscars which is being held tonight in California. Hollywood legend Tom Hanks, who was set to appear with Paxton in a film later this year spoke of his sadness at the actor’s passing. He said ‘Bill Paxton was, simply, a wonderful man. A wonderful man.’

Director Doug Liman said the star was incredibly optimistic about the future, even though he was about to undergo major surgery. He said Even facing major surgery, his optimism for the future was infectious. He was talking about the future, things we hoped to do together.’

Rob Lowe also shared his sadness on social media saying ‘Devastated by the sudden loss of my close friend and one of the finest actors in the business, Bill Paxton.’ Zach Braff said Paxton was a very talent man while Arnold Schwarzenegger said his best role was ‘simply being bill’.
