Jimmy Kimmel set to host Oscars again next year

It has been announced that Jimmy Kimmel is to return to host the 90th Oscars again next year. Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs announced the news in a statement today. The talk show host said that he was thrilled to be hosting the biggest event in showbiz once again. ‘Hosting the Oscars was a highlight of my career and I am grateful to Cheryl, Dawn and the Academy for asking me to return to work with two of my favourite people, Mike De Luca and Jennifer Todd.’

He joked that if audiences thought that the ending to last year’s show was messy they should wait until they see what they have planned for next year. Boone Isaacs added that ‘Mike and Jennifer produced a beautiful show that was visually stunning. And Jimmy proved, from his opening monologue all the way through a finale we could never have imagined, that he is one our finest hosts in Oscar history.’

The 2018 Oscars will be broadcast on Sunday the 4th March. It is thought that the ceremony will be extra special, given that it is the 90th anniversary of the awards. Drama ensued at this year’s awards when Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty announced the wrong name of the best picture award. They were given the wrong envelope and wrongly read out La La Land when instead Moonlight had in fact won.
