Stunatman dies on set of The Walking Dead

Filming on the eighth series of The Walking Dead has been stopped after the death of a stuntman on set. According to E! the stuntman who died shortly after suffering injuries from an accident. He has been named as John Bernecker. the official cause of death was recorded as blunt force trauma and the medical office has ruled that his death was an accident.

A spokesperson for AMC released a statement expressing their regret at the tragic events. ‘We are saddened to report that John Bernecker, a talented stuntman for The Walking Dead and numerous other television shows and films, suffered serious injuries from a tragic accident on set.’ They added ‘He was immediately transported to an Atlanta hospital and we have temporarily shut down production. We are keeping John and his family in our thoughts and prayers.’

Stars from the show shared their sadness and shock on Twitter. Jeffery Morgan wrote ‘Deep sorrow today, and for every tomorrow.’ Lauren Cohan wrote ‘Dear Walking Dead Family, please keep John Bernecker, our stuntman and his family in your prayers today.’

The stuntman had worked on TV shows such as 24 and Into the Badlands had also been a regular fixture in films such as Logan, The Hunger Games and 22 Jump Street. He is said to have fallen over 20 feet onto a concrete floor. He was immediately rushed to hospital but later died from his injuries.
