Harrison has spoken out for the first time about his affair with the actress Carrie Fisher. Speaking in the October issue of GQ he said that it was ‘strange’ for him but that he was given a warning about the revelations.
Just weeks before she died, Carrie Fisher revealed that she had an affair with Harrison Ford. The late star shared how they became romantically involved while filming the 1977 installment of the famous franchise – Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. Writing in her diary she said ‘I looked over at Harrison. A hero’s face—a few strands of hair fell over his noble, slightly furrowed brow.’
Speaking about revealing the affair while promoting her book she said that she was sure that Ford would feel like he had been ambushed. Though she did admit that she had warned him that she would be publishing her diaries and that he would feature in them. She said that he only waved his finger at her and uttered the word ‘lawyer.’
However, the actor was reluctant to discuss the topic in too much detail, saying that following her untimely passing he didn’t want to discuss the matter. Defending his aloof public image, Ford said that it didn’t bother him that he had a reputation of being a difficult person. ‘I expect to be criticized, and I expect to be unfairly praised. It’s just part of the thing—that people will talk about you.’
