Millions across the globe were left bewildered by a prank about the musician and singer Jack Black last night when the official Tenacious D Twitter page posted that he had died. It is believed that the account was hacked with culprits posting that Black had ‘died at the age of 46’ adding that ‘the cause of death is yet unknown.’ But soon after the message ‘calm down guys! It’s just a prank bro, look there’s the camera…’ was posted on the same official account.
Some expressed their shock at Jack’s supposed death while others were quick to spot that the message might have been a joke. A representative for the actor also posted ‘he’s still alive and well, stop believing what you see on the internet.’ This was just the last in a long line of false claims that the actor had died. Only a few days before a Facebook page about the star posted ‘at about 11 a.m. ET on Friday (June 03, 2016), our beloved actor Jack Black passed away.’
There have been many cases of these so called ‘false deaths’ or ‘false obituaries’ across the years. Famous examples include Mr Bean actor Rowan Atkinson, Dick Cheney and also Kurt Cobain who went on to actually die just days later.
