If you weren’t already excited about a new series of Star Trek then this news should certainly get you in the mood. According to the show-runner the series will be a lot more graphic because it will be screened on CBS All Access and there the boundaries can be pushed. Bryan Fuller said in a statement at the Saturn Awards ‘because we’re CBS All Access, we’re not subject to network broadcast standards and practices.’ Though he did go on to add that the type of universe which Star Trek occupies, isn’t one where he himself would like to hear lots of ‘profanities.’
Another revelation made by Fuller at the awards was that the first series will consist of 13 episodes. Last month a trailer for the series was released, giving fans an insight into what they can expect when the show comes to our screen later this year. The tagline read ‘New Crews’ followed with ‘New Villains’, ‘New Heroes’ and ‘New Worlds’.
The original series, which starred William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy, first aired in 1966 and was a huge success around the world, with fans and critics alike. The show explores the adventures of the Starship USS Enterprise and its crew.
