New Harry Potter play huge hit

We all loved the Harry Potter books and movies and it seems that the new play based on the popular franchise is also set to be a huge success. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, for which the story was developed by Rowling, has opened in London to rave reviews.

The plot takes off 19 years after the end of the last book, with Harry’s son Albus heading off to Hogwarts having to deal with the trials and tribulations of having a famous father, Harry Potter. Both the story and the acting have been given wide critical acclaim, the set and special effects have also been subject to plaudits.

An English critic has said of the piece ‘British theatre hasn’t known anything like it for decades and I haven’t seen anything directly comparable in all my reviewing days.’ With another saying that it was a ‘truly game-changing production and a thrilling theatrical endeavour.’

However, both fans and critics have been kindly asked not to reveal anything about the plot so they don’t spoil it for the fans who will undoubtedly flock to London’s West End in the coming months to see the play, which is in two parts.

Ben Brantly of the New York Times said of the piece ‘by rights, such a combination should try the patience of any grown-up. But like Ms Rowling’s books, the play vanquishes resistance.’
