Corden brands show business ‘elitist sport’

James Corden is one of America’s rising stars and is known for his laugh out loud opinions. However, there wasn’t a speck of humour in sight when Corden was discussing how acting has become a career for posh people, with a severe lack of working class actors making it into the business.

In a candid interview with GQ Magazine the actor said that, especially in Britain, show business is becoming an elitist sport and that he had many obstacles to overcome because of his class when he first got into acting.

The Late Late Show host said ‘I fear acting is becoming an elitist sport and I worry about where that lands us culturally. I really do.’ Before adding ‘Douglas Booth has got a great career, he’s a brilliant actor, but he’s never going to encounter the sort of shit like I’ve had,’ he surmised, adding: ‘Nor will Tom Hiddleston. Nor Eddie Redmayne. Nor Benedict Cumberbatch.’

James, who is from a normal British family, has been a popular fixture on television for the past ten years. However, after his breakout role in the theatre show One Man Two Governors, he has become a huge star in the US. There is even talk of James moving to prime time as his show has been such a huge hit with viewers.
