It’s a controversial statement for a high-profile TV host to make in the United States but that hasn’t stopped British star James Corden from revealing that he now doubts his Christian religion. In a candid interview, the host of the Late Late Show spoke of his very Christian upbringing and his childhood role in the Salvation Army.
However, James admitted that he has recently been questioning his religion and has to all intents and purposes turned his back on Christianity. He said ‘When you ask me what are my beliefs I really struggle because you can’t argue with science, only a mad man would.
While denying that he was a Christian the star did admit that he is not totally void of belief for something bigger. He added ‘that relies on a greater belief than I have, but I absolutely do have a hunch that this can’t be for nothing.’
This is not the first time that the actor come presenter has been critical of religion. A 2012 appearance on the British radio show Desert Island Discs saw James criticise religious individuals as insular. The star is set to be offered a new prime time slot on American television to prevent him from defecting to another channel.
