We all know him as the happy go lucky Ross in Friends but it seems that David Schwimmer might not be so relaxed in real life. The actor has spoken of how he almost became a recluse due to the popularity of the hit TV show.
The actor, who was paid over $1 million an episode alongside stars such as Jennifer Aniston and Matt LeBlanc, spoke to the Hollywood Reporter and told them how the show took over his life. He said ‘it was pretty jarring and it messed with my relationship to other people in a way that took years, I think, for me to adjust to and become comfortable with.’
Schwimmer also complained that his fame made it very difficult for him to practice his craft correctly. He said ‘as an actor, the way I was trained, my job was to observe life and to observe other people, so I used to walk around with my head up, really engaged and watching people.’ He then admitted that his face made him retreat from going about watching people and that he also became a recluse.
Schwimmer has since gone on to become a successful director of both plays and television and has recently starred in the People versus OJ Simpson playing the star’s late lawyer Robert Kardashian.
