It has been confirmed that Lady Gaga is set to star alongside Hollywood heartthrob Bradley Cooper in the remake of the 1950’s classic A Star is Born. The original film starred Judy Garland and James Mason and followed the meeting and successive rise to fame of two working actors in a 1950’s Hollywood.
The pair are also going to have a great deal of creative influence over the production with Bradley directing and Gaga (real name Stefani Germanotta) writing new material for the remake. She will also perform several of the film’s signature songs as well as some of the new material she is penning for the film.
A statemnet for Warner Brothers said that the world was in for a treat with the excellent casting of the new film. ‘The world is in for a treat as these great artists craft an all new vision of A Star is Born.’ Gaga is a multi-award winning singer and has recently made a successful move into acting. Cooper has been nominated for an Oscar three times for his roles in Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle and American Sniper.
The film was also remade in the 1970’s and starred Barabara Striesand with the focus on the music scene instead of being set in Hollywood.
