Mr Bean star Rowan Atkinson has released a new film about the classic comedy character. However, there is a twist. The film will only be released in China!
It has been reported that the reason for Atkinson deciding to do the film is due to his divorce from his wife of 24 years – and it seems that the divorce is proving costly for the star. Despite the star already been worth over $70 million, it seems that he needs more money to fund the proceedings. The couple met in 2013 when they appeared in a play together in the West End in London.
Atkinson, 62, then moved out of the marital home and into a plush mansion in London while his wife is said to have stayed in their central London property. The grounds for divorce were cited as unreasonable behavior.
It has been reported that just before his divorce Atkinson sold one of his cars worth a whopping $10 million. He stars in the film with two huge Chinese stars who spoke about the difficulties of the language barrier while at the premier. They said ‘Just with facial expressions and gestures we seemed to understand each other. It was really an interesting experience, which proves that comedy can cross boundaries.’
