There has been much speculation over the past several months about who will take over the role of James Bond after Daniel Craig – and it seems like the cat might be finally out of the bag. Director John Ridley accidently let slip that Idris Elba will be the next actor to take on the iconic role. Ridley was speaking to Radio 1 when he said that he ‘can’t wait’ to see Idris play Bond.

We couldn’t have done it without him. It was a pleasure, he’s a gentleman. I can’t wait to see him as James Bond quite frankly.’ After being quizzed about his comments on the red carpet he responded by saying that it was a mistake. ‘Oh my god, I have no idea why he said that. That’s another six months of the rumour, oh well.’
The pair have recently worked together on a new mini-series called Guerilla. The political TV show follows a couple after they free a political prisoner from an underground cell in 1970s London. Idris who stars in the drama also co-produced the series which is set to air next week.
