Comedians have gathered to celebrate the life of Charlie Murphy who died last week following a battle with Leukemia. Famous faces included George Lopez, Cedric the Entertainer and Dave Chapelle. Cedric shared a picture on social media stating that they were all gathered to celebrate the life of the legendary comedian. ‘Tonite we joined Family n Friends to pay tribute and lay to rest our brother the Legendary #charliemurphy.’
The congregation gathered together in New Jersey to celebrate the life of Murphy who died at the age of just 57 following his battle with cancer. His family released a statement saying that they are devastated by the loss of Charlie and they will think about him every day. They also thanked the public for their kindness at this difficult time.
The 57-year-old, who is the older brother of famous brother Eddie, was known for his role on Chapelle’s Show where he would tell stories of Eddie and celebrities such as Prince and Rick James. Neal Brennan who directed Murphy said of the star ‘First stuff I ever officially directed were the Rick James and Prince stories. Dude [Murphy] changed my life. One of the most unique people I’ve ever met. So funny. So weird… Unforgettable dude. Really sad…’
