Former Spice Girl, Geri Horner, has opened up about her heartache following the loss of her close friend Goerge Michael. Speaking on television Geri said that her comeback to music was inspired by George who passed away in December at the age of just 53.
The singer admitted that she was incredibly nervous about releasing a tribute song was more than anything she was a huge fan. She spoke of her pain following his death and revealed that the didn’t know how to deal with the loss. ‘When I demoed the record, I had the baby four days later. When I wrote it, I was in so much pain and vulnerable didn’t know how to deal. She continued ‘And then I had a baby boy – circle of life. Monty is named after George and it was my mother’s idea. George was was close to my mum. He was adorable in that way.’
The single is set to be released on June 24th, two days before what would have been George’s 54th birthday. She said that George had such an impact on her life that she didn’t know what to do with her feelings. Gerli also admitted that she was nervous about her return as she wasn’t sure what her brand was anymore. ‘I thought, you know, I’m not the hotpants girl, the young thing. That was an era and how am I going to come back?’
