A report released yesterday revealed that movie star Carrie Fisher had cocaine in her system when she died. The findings of the post-mortem concluded that she may have taken the drug up to three days before she died. Traces of MDMA and heroin were also present in her body at the time of her death. However, the report could not determine the cause of her death though they did say it was attributed to a cardiac incident. They added that sleep apnoea also played a part.
A statement from Fisher’s daughter said that her mother had battled with addiction all her life. ‘My mum battled drug addiction and mental illness her entire life. She ultimately died of it. She was purposefully open in all of her work about the social stigmas surrounding these diseases.’
The Star Wars actress was travelling from London to LA on a flight on December 23rd when she fell unconscious. She never woke up and died 4 days later. Her mother, Debbie Reynolds died one day later after she suffered a stroke at her home in LA.
