Blake Lively has taken to social media to show her support for the transgender community. The incident occurred after Donald Trump banned trans people from serving in the army earlier this week. Announcing the new and controversial policy Trump said ‘Our military must be focused on decisive and overwhelming victory and cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail.’
Blake took to her Instagram to share her outrage at the decision which has been taken by the President. The actress shared a picture of the United States army adorned with the gay flag. She also encouraged her fans to sign a petition in protest to the announcement. She said ‘THIS is America. WE the people. ALL THE PEOPLE. Today I stand with our fellow citizens. No human being is a burden. I believe in equality. In freedom. In opportunity. In kindness, acceptance, and fairness. I believe in this country, so I, and many

While the majority of her fans seemed to agree with her, Blake was subjected to some abuse with a handful of individuals unfollowing her. One user said ‘You catching that unfollow for this.’ Lively responded by saying that she chooses love over hate and wished the user to find a bigger heart.
