Actor Daniel Craig has announced that he WILL play James Bond in the next film of the long running spy franchise. Appearing on The Late Show Craig finally confirmed the news which first surfaced some weeks ago.
After taking over the role back in 2006 playing Bond in Casino Royale he has since had three subsequent outings as the world’s most famous spy. Craig has received critical and commercial success with Skyfall lauding particular acclaim.
Speaking about his return to Bond, he told chat show host Stephen Colbert that he wanted to save the news for his show. ‘I’ve been quite cagey about it. I’ve been doing interviews all day and people have been asking me, and I think I’ve been rather coy.’ Adding ‘But I kind of felt like if I was going to sort of speak the truth, I should speak the truth to you. I have to apologize to all the people I did interviews with today because I wanted to tell you.’
Despite saying that he just needed a break, he claimed in the past that he would rather ‘slash his wrists’ rather than play the title character for the fifth time. He has since apologized for making the comment. ‘I don’t want to make excuses about it, but it was two days after I finished shooting the last movie. I went straight to an interview and someone asked, ‘Would you do another one?”
