Over 11 years since they departed our TV screens Will, Grace, Jack and Karen are set to make a triumphant return this September. The cast and creative decided to make a comeback after a mini-episode they made supporting Hillary Clinton during the 2016 election campaign was met with a raft of positivity from fans and critics alike. But, after the confusing and somewhat depressing finale aired in 2006 how will the show kick off its comeback and what else do we know about the return of TV’s favourite foursome?
Guess Who’s Back
Eric McCormack, Debra Messing, Sean Hayes and Megan Mullally are set to reprise their roles in the groundbreaking sitcom. However, some familiar faces will be missing from the show. Shelly Morrison, known for her hilarious portrayal of Karen’s Mexican maid Rosario, has retired from the business and will not feature in the new episodes. It is not known how they will address her departure.
That Series Finale
Remember how in the last episode they all got really old, had children and fell out for 20 years? If you don’t it’s totally OK because the series creators have decided to forget all about it as well. The show’s co-creators said ‘When the decision was made to bring the series back, we were like, well, we left them with kids, right? And if they have children, then it has to be about them being parents, ‘cause presumably, it would be a priority in their lives. And if it wasn’t a priority in their lives, then they’re still parents, they’re just bad parents, right? We frankly did not want to see them being either good parents or bad parents. We wanted them to be Will and Grace.’
Some Things Never Change
Erasing the events of the series finale means that things can go back to how they used to be. Will and Grace will be living together in their over-sized, sitcom styled apartment, Jack will be living across the hall and Karen will be sipping vodka on the Upper East Side in her gargantuan mansion. It has also been confirmed that Will and Grace will still be a lawyer and interior designer, Jack will still be on the peripheries of show business and Karen will still be drinking and pill popping her way through life.
Cameos
Will and Grace has always been a popular show for stars to make a cameo in. Sharon Osbourne and Cher are just two of the many faces who appeared across the years. However, it seems that the revival is set to top all of these when former First Lady Michelle Obama takes her rightful place among the cast. It is reported that she is ‘up for anything’ so long as it does not cross a line given her husband’s former role in politics and the current mood in the United States.
More Will and Grace
The comeback series has already been renewed for a second season despite that fact that it isn’t airing for another few weeks. The network is so pleased with the excitement surrounding its return that they have already promised fans that this upcoming season won’t be the last!
