Janet Jackson has broken down on stage while performing at a concert in Houston yesterday. The 51-year-old was making her return to the stage after giving birth to her first child nine months ago. The singer postponed her State of the World tour last year after learning she was pregnant.
After performing her 90s hot ‘What About’ she stood on stage, put her head in her hands and began to sob for a few moments. She then declared to the audience ‘this is me’. The emotional outburst caused concern for those in the audience and those close to Jackson as the sing is about domestic violence. Lyrics from the song include ‘What about all the s–t you’ve done to me?’ and ‘What about the times you hit my face?’ According to reports she also got emotional after performing the song the previous night but managed to hold it together.
One fan posted their concern online saying ‘I wanted to hold you when you cried last night during What About. It breaks my heart to see you cry. Very powerful performance.’
She did not perform the song previous to her maternity leave – she has also filed for divorce from her husband Wissam Al Mana causing many to speculate about the nature of their relationship and why they are splitting.
