Donald Trump ‘saddened’ by Emmy ratings

President of the United States, Donald Trump, has said that he was saddened by the ratings from this year’s Emmy Awards. As usual, the leader of the Free World took to his social media to air his thoughts on the showbiz event.

He said ‘I was saddened to see how bad the ratings were on the Emmys last night – the worst ever.’ He added ‘Smartest people of them all are the DEPLORABLES.’ The host, Stephen Colbert, predicted that Trump would be chewing over the figures from the awards. He said ‘What really matters to Donald Trump is ratings. You’ve got to have the big numbers. And I certainly hope we achieved that tonight.’

The administration’s former press secretary, Sean Spicer, also made a surprise cameo on the evening of the awards. Spicer joked about his previous claim that Tump’s inauguration was the largest ever. He said ‘This will be the largest audience to witness an Emmys, period.’ Many experts and photos seemed to suggest that there were far fewer people in attendance than at Barack Obama’s.

It seems that this year wasn’t actually the worst year for the Emmys. A peak of 11.4 million viewers tuned in to watch The Handmaid’s Tale scoop the best drama award. This was 100,000 up on last year when the show peaked at 11.3 million viewers.
