Mariah Carey has led the celebrity tributes to the victims of the Las Vegas shooting. The singer was being interviewed live on British morning television as the incident unfolded. Carey recently fished a two-year residency performing in the city and is returning to the stage in Las Vegas in December.
As the news unfolded the anchors of the TV show informed Mariah about the terrible tragedy. ‘Wow, that’s awful. Again, I pray for the victims and hope all these can stop as soon as possible.’ She added ‘I’ve spent a lot of time in Vegas, and this type of thing happening anywhere is a huge tragedy…I continue to pray for the victims. I hope we have an end to this as soon as possible. It’s terrible because people are going out to listen to music. Really, they’re out for the night and something like this happens…It’s shocking.’
Carey said that she can’t understand it when something as shocking as this happens and nobody ever expects such a tragedy to unfold. Carey was originally scheduled to appear on the programme to discuss her music but the interview took a turn when the news about the mass shooting began to emerge.
The shooting took place at a Jason Aldean concert that was taking place in the city. The perpetrator shot at selfless victims from the window of the Mandalay Bay Resort Hotel and Casino. Police have confirmed that he killed himself as they stormed the building.
