The new presenters of The Great British Bake Off have been announced – and not everyone is happy about the decision!
After months of speculation following the move from the BBC to Channel 4, the new hosts have been revealed as Sandi Toksvig, Noel Fielding and Prue Leith. Fielding said ‘GBBO is one of my favourite shows. I’ve always loved brightly coloured cakes and Sandi Toksvig so this is a dream come true for me! It’s basically the double.’
Miss Leith, who is replacing stalwart Mary Berry alongside Paul Hollywood said of her new role ‘I am just so thrilled to be joining Paul, Sandi and Noel on the biggest show on TV and I cannot wait to see what the real stars of the show – the bakers – are going to create for us.’
Sandi Toksvig, who has recently taken over as the host of QI, following the departure of Stephen Fry said ‘It is an extraordinary honour to part of this national treasure of a show.’ A spokesperson for Channel 4 said ‘The Great British Bake Off will have a uniquely Channel 4 take when it airs this autumn.’
The rebrand comes after the show moved from the BBC after the failed to stump up enough cash that the creators, Love Productions, were looking for.
