Documentary reveals last days of George Michael’s life

His fans across the world were devastated when George Michael passed away on Christmas Day but and in a new documentary which aired last night details of the star’s final days were revealed.

Many of his friends, along with journalists, spoke about the singer’s battle with drugs, alcohol and his sexuality. Never before seen footage from a candid 2006 interview was also shown in the program. In the interview, he spoke about his dislike of interviews. He said ‘Believe me I don’t want to do this interview. Chances are when you see me in front of the camera, I don’t want to be there.’

He also spoke about how he feels the straight community judges him for his sexuality and the decisions which he made in his life. ‘I am seriously not prepared to defend my community against the misunderstanding of straight people. This is the reality of my life and you might not understand why it makes me so happy.’ He added that at times his sexuality has been talked about more than his music but insisted that his music would live on – unlike the torrid gossip surrounding his sex life.

However, not everybody was happy about the documentary being shown. His former bandmate Andrew Ridgley said it was highly distasteful given that George’s funeral has yet to take place. He tweeted. ‘2/2 funeral is insensitive, contemptuous & reprehensible. U might have the had decency 2 schedule post funeral & after a respectful period’.
