During the promotion for his new film, Jake Gyllenhaal has revealed that he did not like Ryan Gosling when he first met him. In an interview with Nick Grimshaw on Radio 1, the actor described Gosling a ‘wonderful human’ but admitted that before he got to know his co-star he was only ‘fake nice’ to him.
He did add that being fake nice was very common in Hollywood. He said ‘I knew him, just as passersby. Contemporaries, you know. Where you’re kind of fake nice. He seemed like a nice guy but you know it’s Hollywood.’
However, the pair admitted that they are now the best of friends. Jake spoke about how he has grown close to Gosling over the period which they have worked together. ‘We’re performers and it does happen but it’s rare you meet someone who’s just like you. He’s a wonderful human and he has a lovely family and he’s a great husband, a great dad, a great brother. He’s just a really great guy and we’ve just become really close.’
Ryan also spoke about the rivalry between Gyllenhaal and his wife – Blake Lively. Ryan said Blake, my wife, is very good at cooking, and Jake might be just a little bit better. He can throw down. It gets very competitive between the two.’
