Muller denies assaulting Swift despite guilty verdict

David Muller, the man found guilty of sexually assaulting Taylor Swift, has said that he is prepared to take a lie detector test to prove his innocence. Muller was found guilty by a jury yesterday and was ordered to pay Swift $1 in a symbolic gesture of compensation.

However, despite being found guilty, Muller denied the claims of assault in an interview with Good Morning America. When asked if he touched her ‘butt’, he said no and he could pass a polygraph to prove it. ‘What I’m saying is that I didn’t do what they say I did. I didn’t do it. I never grabbed her. I never had my hand under her skirt and I can pass a polygraph.’

The picture circulating the internet shows Swift stood next to Muller – he has his hand behind her back. When quizzed about where his hand was, he claimed that his knuckles may have brushed her ribs. He said that he wasn’t ready for the photo to be taken and rushed into the shot. Adding ‘Because I was a larger person, I thought it would be a good idea if I closed my hand, so I didn’t poke Taylor with my fingers.’

While Swift received a symbolic dollar in punitive damages, Muller’s claims for $250,000 (the amount he would have been paid by his employer between the incident and the court case) was rejected yesterday. Muller denied that he was after money and said he only wanted proof there had been a misunderstanding so he could seek employment in the future.
