World marks 20th anniversary since the death of Princess Diana

Today marks the 20th anniversary of the death of Princess Diana. On 31st August 1997, Diana was travelling through Paris in a car when it crashed in a tunnel and killed the Princess, her boyfriend and the driver of the car.

Despite the shock and grief being felt around the world, the two people most affected by her death were Princes William and Harry who were only 12 and 15 at the time. They have spoken many times about their desire to continue their mother’s legacy in both their charity work and the way they interact with the public.

Harry, now 32, spoke in a recent documentary about his mother’s death, expressing how hard he found it that his mother was chased to her tragic end. ‘I think one of the hardest things to come to terms with is the fact that the people that chased her, through, into the tunnel, were the same people that were taking photographs of her while she was still dying in the backseat of the car.’

There has been a worldwide interest in her death for the past twenty years, with many people speculating that she was in fact killed – no evidence to back up such claims has ever been found.

The father of Diana’s boyfriend, Dodi El-Fayed claims that the couple was murdered and pushed for an investigation which eventually turned into Operation Paget.
