Nelly denies rape claims on social media

Rapper Nelly has spoken out claiming his innocence after he was arrested on suspicion of rape at the weekend. He took to social media to say that he was shocked at his arrest and was confident that the truth would be revealed. ‘Let me say that I am beyond shocked that I have been targeted with this false allegation. I am completely innocent. I am confident that once the facts are looked at, it will be very clear that I am the victim of a false allegation.’

The star was arrested on second-degree rape charges on Saturday morning. It has been claimed that a woman was raped on his tour bus after finishing a concert in Auburn, Washington. Nello also apologised to his family and friends for the embarrassment and stress that the event has caused. ‘I do want to apologize to my loved ones for the embarrassment and for putting myself in a situation where I could be victimized by this false and defaming allegation.’

He also was keen to thank his fans for their continued support and promised them that he would be vindicated in due course. His lawyer was quick to say that Nelly was the subject of total fabrication.

An official police statement released yesterday read ‘The alleged assault was reported to occur on the tour bus that was parked at the listed location. Nelly had performed at the White River Amphitheater just hours before. After Patrol Officers investigated the incident, at 4:37 a.m. Nelly was taken into custody and booked at the SCORE jail facility.’
