Jimmy Fallon has made an emotional return to his show after his mother, Gloria Fallon, passed away last week. Fallon opened the show with an unusually sentimental monologue paying tribute to his beloved mother who had appeared on the show several times over the years.
‘As some of you know, my mother Gloria passed away recently and I canceled our shows last week to be with my family and make arrangements. She was the best audience. She was the one I was always trying to make laugh and she was such a fan of the show, and everything I did.’
He recounted stories of his childhood, telling the audience how his mother would squeeze his hand as they went to the shops. He also spoke of knowing she was going to die when he went to see her in the hospital. ‘Last week, I was in the hospital and I grabbed her hand and I squeezed I love you and I just knew we were in trouble, you know?’
Fallon spoke of how grateful he was to his fans, giving his gratitude to the audience for helping him and his family through this difficult time. He concluded his monologue by saying that he was going to continue trying to make his mother proud and continue to try and make her laugh even after her death.
