The first set of pictures of the new cast of the Harry Potter stage play have been revealed. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a new play following the lives of the characters made famous in the series of books written by J.K Rowling.
Previews of the stage play, which is based on the famous books about child wizard Potter, is set to open at London’s Palace Theatre on the 7th June. There is also much speculation about a Broadway transfer which is expected to occur.
Of the actor Jamie Parker who plays the adult Harry Potter, Rowling has expressed her confidence in his portrayal of the role. She said “He simply is Harry now. There’s a kind of relief in watching him, he gets it so right.”
The Cursed Child is eighth is the Potter series and is the first official production to be presented on stage. There have been several other stagings of the story but none of which were given the blessing by the story’s creator J.K Rowling. The story follows the teenage child of Harry and Ginny, and his journey into the magical world of Hogwarts. The official synopsis reads ”While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted.”
