Child star Mara Wilson comes out as queer

Child star Mara Wilson has recently opened up about her ambiguous sexuality on social media. The actress who is famed for her roles in Matilda and Mrs Doubtfire said on Twitter that she has started to think of herself as bisexual and queer. She said after considering herself as straight she has given herself the ‘bi/queer label lately.’

The confession was sparked after discussing the tragic murders of 50 people at a nightclub in Orlando with her many fans on Twitter. She revealed that she has first been to a nightclub 10 years ago and although at the time she felt a little out of place the LGBT community welcomed her warmly and made her realise something about herself which she didn’t know before. ‘The LGBTQ community has always felt like home, especially a few years later when I, uh, learned something about myself.’

The actress first hit our screens in Mrs Doubtfire when she was just six years old in which she played the daughter of Robin Williams and Sally Field. She then went on to star in Miracle on 34th Street and the adaptation of Roald Dahl’s classic children’s book Matilda. The actress, who is now 28, is on screen less now and works behind the scenes and an author and playwright.
