After 32 years away from our screens, the Ghostbusters are back, however, this time, there’s a twist, all the cast are female. Melissa McCarthy takes the starring role alongside her female co-stars Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones. And according to lead girl McCarthy there was much camaraderie on set between the female actresses. She said ‘it was like summer camp. We spent four months together and who gets to spend four months with their friends? When it was over it got a little emotional.’
There has been come criticism from fans about the fact that the remake stars only women but the cast insist that they are not trying to top the original but rather put their own spin on it and create something totally different. They themselves admitted that ‘you can’t get better than the original film.’
And it’s not only the stellar cast that audiences can look forward to, the theme song to the movie comes courtesy of former One Direction star Zayn Malik. The singer has already had a great success with his music since splitting from the band and this is sure to cement his place as a successful artist. The single is released on the same day at the film which opens next month.
