Viola Beach get posthumous number 1

Viola Beach, the band who died in a freak car accident in Sweden, have posthumously reached number one in the charts with their last album.

The album was composed from the body of work that the band left behind including a variety of live sessions and studio recordings, many of which were set to be used for an LP . Fin Reeves, brother of the guitarist who died said of the album’s success ‘I think they’d be absolutely thrilled. I can see the smiles on their faces. They made this happen. They did the hard work.’

The families of the bank went on to say that they were thrilled that the lasting legacy of the band would now be this number one album and not the tragic circumstances under which they died. ‘What will now define their lives and what they will be remembered for, forever, is the music they were so passionate about making together. For that, we will be eternally humbled and ever thankful to every single person who, by buying this glorious album, has invested in their lasting musical legacy.’

The bank was on tour in Sweden when the car they were travelling in plunged into a canal back in February of this year. All four members of the band and their manager died in the incident.
