Juan Gabriel, the singer who was well known for his work in the Latin music market has died of a heart attack at the age of 66. He was known for being the biggest musical export Mexico has ever produced and sold over 100 million albums worldwide. He was said to be at home in Santa Monica when he passed away shortly after suffering from a heart attack. The news comes just days after he performed at the Forum, a venue in the city of Los Angeles, on Friday. The coroner ruled that the singer died of natural causes.
The singer was born to parent farmers in Mexico in 1950. After some small TV appearances, he began singing in clubs across the country before finding worldwide notoriety in the Latin music market. He is widely considered to be the most successful singer Mexico has ever produced and one of the most bankable artirtst ever to tap into the Latin music scene. He had four children, however, he never married. Some of the notable credits he received were six Grammy nominations, four Billboard awards and a La Opinión Tributo Nacional (Lifetime Achievement Award). He was also awarded a star on the Hollywood walk of fame in California.
