Star Trek stars pay respects to Yelchin

As Hollywood remains in shock over the tragic death of actor Anton Yelchin, the cast of Star Trek are staying away from the cameras as a mark of respect for their former colleague. They were set to appear at the Cannes Lions festival I France but have taken the decision not to appear. Chris Pine, John Cho, Simon Pegg and Zachary Quinto are just some of the stars who are staying away as a mark of respect. A statement read ‘all of us are deeply saddened by the loss of our friend Anton Yelchin. Out of respect, we are withdrawing our participation in the previously announced Star Trek Beyond event at Cannes Lions this week.’ Many other stars and fans have also paid their own tributes to the actor who was only 27 years old.

The actor, who was the son of Russian immigrants, died at the weekend after he was crushed to death by his own Jeep at his home in California. There has been widespread fear about the safety of all such vehicles since his death after the Grand Cherokees cars were open to a voluntarily return request because of safety fears. The claims have been dismissed by the manufacturers who say that people should not worry.
