Matt LeBlanc to host Top Gear alone

He is known to millions around the world as Joey in Friends but Matt LeBlanc is carving out a new career for himself as the main host of the car show Top Gear. The actor was originally signed up to present the show alongside Chris Evans who is a huge star in the UK but not known to an international audience.

The pair were signed up to host the show after Jeremy Clarkson was fired for hitting a producer while filming the hit TV show. Resignations from Richard Hammond and James May followed. But now the show has once again been thrown into turmoil after host Chris Evans quit the show after much criticism and falling ratings.

Matt LeBlanc, who has thus far been popular with audiences is now rumoured to be demanding a considerable pay increase is he stays on for his second series as the main host of the show. Both hosts were said to be earning in the region of a quarter a million dollars but with Evan’s departure LeBlanc could be set to double that, making him one of the highest paid stars at the BBC. Though his salary will be a far cry from the $1 million an episode that he was making for his role as Joey in Friends.
