Melissa to auction more of Joan’s belongings

Melissa Rivers, the only child of the wildly successful and popular comedian Joan Rivers, is said to be preparing a second auction of her late mother’s belongings. Last month an auction of Joan’s belongings earned a whopping $2.2 million but the latest sell-off is set to include a range of much more affordable items starting at around $50.

Melissa said in an interview ‘With the Litchfield’s auction we wanted to make some of my mom’s favorite pieces accessible to a wider audience.’ The auction is set to include trademark pieces from the star’s wardrobe, such as sunglasses and jewellery, as well as pieces from her New York home with items as cheap as $50. This is in stark contrast to last month’s auction where a dog bowl sold for $14,000. Several items have already been sold, including a pendant which went for $3000.

Joan died almost 2 years ago, in the summer of 2014, after she stopped breathing while having a routine procedure at a clinic in New York. Her daughter has filed a lawsuit of malpractice against the clinic. Joan was known for her cutting comedy and acerbic wit which often divided opinion but always, always made people laugh.
