Angelina Jolie has been spotted for the first time in public since announcing her separation from husband Brad Bitt. The actress was out to celebrate the premiere of her new film – First They Killed My Father. The film tells the true story of a survivor of the Pol Pot regime in Cambodia. Jolie who has directed and co-written the movie said she got involved with the project because she wanted to understand the plight of her adopted children who were born in Cambodia to parents who lived through the horrific regime.
Jolie was even invited by the King of Cambodia for her work in highlighting the history of Cambodia and bringing it to a mass audience. Speaking about the film Jolie said that the film is not just about war but also about family and love. ‘I wanted to focus not just on the war but on the love of family and on the beauty of the country and in fact, I wanted to understand what my son’s birth parents may have gone through.’ She went on to say ‘he was the one who just called it and said he was ready and that he wanted to work on it, which he did. He read the script, helped with notes, and was in the production meetings.’
