Emma Stone speaks out on Oscars blunder

It was the biggest mishap in the Oscars 89-year history and Hollywood actress Emma Stone has described it as one of the most horrible moments of her life.

The La La Land star was speaking in an interview with the Daily Mail where she said of the embarrassing experience ‘One of the most horrible moments of my life. Wow! It was just so horrible.’ Price Waterhouse Cooper has publicly admitted responsibility and also apologised for the mistake.

Warren Beatty, who was the presenting the award with actress Faye Dunaway, said he kept the card to prove that he did not make a mistake. He said  ‘I have the card. I have the envelope with La La Land and Emma Stone’s name and I’m keeping hold of it awhile. I bet you all thought I was doing some schtick to prolong the moment but I wasn’t. I was confused because the card read “Emma Stone, La La Land”.’

Dawn Hudson, who is the managing director of the Academy, clarified that it was PwC that was responsible for the mistake. ‘We sincerely apologise to Moonlight, La La Land, Warren Beatty, Faye Dunaway, and Oscar viewers for the error. The presenters had mistakenly been given the wrong envelope and when discovered it was immediately corrected.’
