Elton John has celebrated turning 70 with a star-studded party and has spoken about what he values in life as he reaches the milestone birthday.
Speaking on the radio about his birthday he was also quick to point out that his knighthood doesn’t mean anything to him. He said ‘The knighthood gives me f*** all. They are so enamoured over here in America but the English don’t care, nothing is sacred in England.’ He went on to admit that he liked the fact that having a title doesn’t matter and he will always be brought back down to earth no matter how rich, famous or powerful he is.
He also said that he values every day and even though parts of his body could be working better that he still very young inside. He also credited his children for making his life complete. He said ‘We live for a small amount of time. We don’t know when our death sentence will be. You have to live every day. Having the children has been the icing on the cake. It has made everything more enjoyable.’
The singer rose to fame in the 1970s and 1980s with hits like Your Song, Sacrifice and Rocket Man. He wrote Candle in the Wind for Marlin Monroe when she passed away and performed a version of the song at Princess Diana’s funeral.
