What we know about the return of Twin Peaks…

After waiting 26 years, the wait is over. Twin Peaks is set to return to our TV screens this weekend. The show’s original creators, Mark Frist and David Lynch, are both back onboard and have largely kept tight-lipped about what we can expect from this revamped classic. But in the age of the internet it’s impossible to keep everything secret, so let’s take a look at what we know so far.

1. Many of the characters are returning

We know that several major players from the original series are back in action. While we can’t wait to be introduced to the new additions were also super excited to see the likes of Kyle MacLachlan as Dale Cooper, Mädchen Amick as Shelly Johnson and Dana Ashbrook as Bobby Briggs on screen once again! We can also expect plenty of twists with Sheryl Lee as Laura Palmer and Ray Wise as Leland Palmer returning to the series despite the fact that they were killed off in the original series!

2. Lots of new exciting characters

Twin Peaks was always known for its large ensemble cast and it seems like the stars were lining up to star in the remake of this classic TV show. Expect to see the likes of Amanda Seyfried, Tim Roth, Naomi Watts and Ashley Judd to make an appearance in the coming episodes. But who will they play? How will they be worked into the story? Your guess is as good as ours.

3. Dale Cooper lives on

Cooper was the central character in the original series of Twin Peaks. According to reports, Kyle MacLachlan was the only actor who got to see the entire script, suggesting that the revamp will once again revolve around Dale. It is thought that the springboard for the plot is dream sequences from the original which were played out 25 years in the future.

4. Familiar locations

Much of the story will take place in the same localities as the original. However, an insider added that they have also ventured to different parts of the United States for the new series.

5. It’s going to be incredible

As you might expect, this series is going to be epic! Mädchen Amick revealed in an interview with E Entertainment that she thinks this series will really break the television mould and blow people’s minds. He said ‘I think David Lynch and Mark Frost did such a good job of just continuing the story 25 years later.’ She continued ‘We’re not trying to revisit anything, but I think that the fans will love and enjoy a lot of the nostalgia, and things that will be revisited, but it kinda spins us off in a new direction, and I just think it’s going to blow everyone’s minds. I think as the first series did for television, this new season, I think it’s going to do it again in a different way. It’s going to break the mould once again.
