Mamma Mia set for sequel

It has been announced that Mamma Mia is set for a musical sequel. Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried, Pierce Brosnan, and Colin Firth are all set to return to the screen to respire their roles which they created in the original film which was released 10 years ago.

The first film was based on the hit Broadway music with the new film, called Mamma Mia Here We Go Again, been written and directed by filmmaker Ol Parker. It is set to feature a collection of songs by Abba that did not make it into the original film. Fans are said to be delighted at the prospect of a second movie which smashed box office records when it was released almost a decade ago. The film took a staggering $609.8M when it opened back in 2008.

Universal have confirmed that the film will be released in 2018, prompting many to question if the film has already begun shooting in secret. It is not confirmed if other favourites such Christine Baranski and Julie Walters will return for the second film.
