Troubled golfer Tiger Woods has said that he has completed an ‘intensive program’ following his recent arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol. The sportsman posted to Twitter to explain his ongoing treatment and to thank his family and friends for supporting him through this difficult time.
According to an official state record, Woods was stopped and booked in the early hours of 29th May for having an unlawful level of blood alcohol. Just hours after the arrest, he spoke out about the severity of the situation stating that he takes full responsibility for his actions.
‘I understand the severity of what I did and I take full responsibility for my actions. I want the public to know that alcohol was not involved. What happened was an unexpected reaction to prescribed medications. I didn’t realize the mix of medications had affected me so strongly.’
He has since spoken out about getting help with the medications he is taking for back pain and a sleep disorder. ‘I’m currently receiving professional help to manage my medications and the ways that I deal with back pain and a sleep disorder,” he tweeted. “I want to thank everyone for the amazing outpouring of support and understanding especially the fans and players on tour.’
