Superstar Mel-B has been ordered to pay her estranged husband $40,000 a month in spousal support in a bitter court battle between the pair. This is despite the fact that it has been reported that the pair spent most of the singer’s fortune while they were still together/
Documents obtained by the Daily Mail newspaper show that the judge also ordered Mel to pay Stephen Belafonte an additional sum to cover his legal expenses. Mel filed a Gavron warning which is an order requesting that a spouse becomes self-supporting – a notion which the judge in the case clearly disagreed with.
The judge said ‘The Court has considered carefully Brown’s allegations… that she suffered serious, debilitating abuse at the hands of Belafonte resulting in bodily injury and profound emotional distress. However, he went on to say that there is no documented evidence of such abuse and that ‘Belafonte’s request for temporary Spousal Support is granted.’
The former Spice Girl is said to earn in the region of $249,000 a month for being a judge on the TV show America’s Got Talent. Just last month Mel laid her finances on the table and said that she has spent the fortune that she amassed throughout her pop career.
A source recently revealed ‘Mel is an international superstar, still working as a judge on America’s Got Talent, but she only has a small amount of money in the bank, according to Companies House. People may be very surprised.’
