Many celebrities claim that they are do-gooders but in reality, it never materialises. However, it seems that Amber Heard really believes in her cause by donating the whole of her $7 million divorce settlement to two different charities.
She had split the money between American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) which aims to prevent domestic violence against women in the Unites States and also a children’s hospice based in the city of Los Angeles. In a statement, the actress said she was donating the money to ‘help those less able to defend themselves.’
The settlement, which she received from actor Johnny Depp, was claimed to be exaggerated by his lawyer in order for her to gain more money from the divorce after their 15 months marriage. Heard rebuffed the claims saying that ‘money played no role for me personally and never has, except to the extent that I could donate it to charity and, in doing so, hopefully help those less able to defend themselves. As reported in the media, the amount received in the divorce was $7m and $7m is being donated. This is over and above any funds that I have given away in the past and will continue to give away in the future.’
