Tara Palmer-Tompkinson dead at 45

The socialite and reality television star Tara Palmer-Tompkinson had been found dead at her home at the age of just 45. According to reports police and paramedics were called to her flat in Kensington this afternoon – a police spokesperson confirmed that a woman in her forties was found dead at the scene. Her death is currently being treated as unexplained but not suspicious.

She was born into a privileged family with royal connections, she was goddaughter to Price Charles, and become known as a party girl in the 1990s. She won a legion of fans and a respect from the public when she took part in the first series of I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here – seemingly putting her well-documented battle with drugs behind her.

Just a few months ago she revealed that she had been diagnosed with a brain tumour, though this was thought to be benign. Speaking at the time she said ‘I went to the doctors to talk about my latest blood test results when I got back from skiing in January. I said: ‘What does this mean? Can you translate it?’ And the doctor said: ‘As I suspected, you have a brain tumour’.
