Harvey Weinstein offered Rose McGowan to silence the actress from speaking out

The plot surrounding Harvey Weinstein shows no signs of abating as it has been reported that he offered to pay Rose McGowan a million dollars in hush money. The actress said she turned down the money just 24 hours before The New York Times ran with the expose about the now disgraced Hollywood producer.

McGowan said somebody close to Weinstein offered her the money in a bid to silence her and stop her from telling her story. She had reached a previous settlement worth $100,000 but that did not include a gagging order known as a non-disclosure agreement.

McGowan said ‘I had all these people I’m paying telling me to take it so that I could fund my art.’ She said that she asked for $6m but then informed her lawyer to abandon the request she made. ‘I figured I could probably have gotten him up to three (million dollars). But I was like – ew, gross, you’re disgusting, I don’t want your money, that would make me feel disgusting.’
