O.J Simpson set to be released from prison

O.J. Simpson is set to be released from prison after serving nine years behind bars in Nevada Prison. The 70-year-old was granted parole after serving time for his conviction of armed robbery, burglary, and kidnapping. The former footballer looked visibly shaken and emotional as he was told that he would soon be able to walk free from jail. He simply said ‘thank you’ when the news was announced.

Simpson was famously cleared of the murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ron Goldman in what was called the trial of the century. The proceedings captivated the world’s media and were covered extensively around the world. Simpson has always denied that he murdered his wife but did admit to abusing her back in 1989.

Despite it being over two decades since the murder trial, O.J. Simpson still has the ability to capture the attention of the world. When news of his parole was released, TV stations across the United states cut to footage of the courtroom to capture the sportsman’s reaction to the news that he would once again be a free man.

While O.J. Simpson once deeply divided America, particularly down racial lines, a recent poll found that only 7% of the population now think that he did not murder his ex-wife. There is also speculation that Caitlyn Jenner is set to collect O.J from prison, despite the tenuous connection that he was friends with Caitlyn’s ex-wife’s former husband.
