Olivia Newton-John reveals her cancer has returned

Actress Olivia Newton-John has revealed that her cancer has returned. She was first diagnosed with the disease 25 years ago. The singer and star of Grease has postponed all her upcoming tour dates after discovering the disease when suffering from severe back pain. She announced that she was having treatment and hoped to return to the stage later this year.

A statement released on Tuesday said that the breast cancer had spread to her back which is what was causing her back pain. ‘The back pain that initially caused her to postpone the first half of her concert tour, has turned out to be breast cancer that has metastasized to the sacrum.’ The statement continued ‘In addition to natural wellness therapies, Olivia will complete a short course of photon radiation therapy and is confident she will be back later in the year, better than ever, to celebrate her shows.’

Newton-John first suffered from breast cancer in 1992. After making a full recovery the Australian went on to raise a significant amount of money for the disease and set up the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness research centre. She organised multiple trips to the Great Wall Of China to raise money for her organisation with high-profile celebrity friends including Cliff Richard and Joan Rivers.
